Referrals and Fees

To be eligible to claim your psychology appointment through Medicare, you will need to be referred by a GP with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. 

If you are eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan you may receive a Medicare rebate of $141.85 for up to 10 sessions per year. Your Mental Health Treatment Plan needs to be reviewed by your GP after your 6th appointment with us to ensure ongoing Medicare eligibility. 

Referrals from your doctor may be emailed via the contact us page. Referrals must be dated prior to, or the date of the first psychology appointment.

If you prefer, you are also able to pay the full fee as a private client without a referral. 

You may also be able to claim directly through your private health insurance provider. However, we recommend checking directly with each provider on the cover available to you. 

 We are committed to providing accessible and high quality psychological treatment. Our fees are set well below those recommended by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) - these are currently recommended as $311.  

The standard consultation fee at SO Psychology is $265 for a 50 minute session. 

For ease, we use an online payment system, with credit card details to be provided on your first booking. Credit card details are securely encrypted and stored in our practice management software. Payment is to be made in full on the day of your appointment, with an invoice being emailed directly to you following the appointment session. 

Your time is important to us, and likewise we have demands on our schedules. If you are not able to attend your appointment and need to cancel or reschedule, please give us 48 to 24 hours notice so that we can offer that time to another client. 

Cancellations received within 48-24 hours will incur a 50% cancellation fee ($132.50). 

If you cancel or reschedule in less than 24 hours, the full consultation fee of $265 will apply. Please note that cancellation fees are not eligible for rebates.
